Can ChatGPT write quotes for my sign shop?

Yes, if ChatGPT has your prices to work from. On its own, ChatGPT can only guess what a sign should cost. Connected to Grommetbook through developer mode, ChatGPT can set up your Price Book from your spreadsheet, draft Quotes priced from your own Materials, Rates and markups, get a link your customer approves online, and track Jobs. ChatGPT doesn't invent the number; it shows the math. It depends on your ChatGPT plan, because developer-mode connectors are not available on every plan.

What ChatGPT can do with Grommetbook

• Set up your Price Book. Upload your pricing spreadsheet. ChatGPT runs import_price_book as a dry run, shows the Materials, Rates and Products it will create, and saves when you confirm.
• Price and explain. price_product shows each step: material cost with waste %, rate hours, options, markup and minimum.
• Write and send Quotes. draft_quote builds the Quote; send_quote returns an approval link. Your customer approves online, with name, IP address and time recorded, and can download a PDF.
• Track Jobs. Turn approved Quotes into Jobs and move them: To do → In production → Ready → Installed/picked up → Invoiced.
• Handle price rises. "Oracal raised 751 by 6%" runs reprice_materials. Products reprice; sent Quotes stay frozen.
• Export. export_invoices_csv (QuickBooks import layout) and export_shop_data (JSON). Direct QuickBooks Online push is coming soon.
• Ask for features. request_feature files a request in your words.

A read-only web viewer shows everything, including which call changed what.

How to connect Grommetbook in ChatGPT

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer mode.
2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create.
3. Paste the server address: https://grommetbook.smallwright.com/mcp
4. Choose OAuth for authentication, then sign in. Enter your email and open the sign-in link we send.
5. In a new chat, turn on the Grommetbook connector and say "get started with Grommetbook".

What it can't do yet

No production scheduling, inventory, online payments or deposits, artwork proofing, sales tax beyond a flat rate, Xero or mobile app in v1. Grommetbook does not send email, and pricing has no quantity-break grids.

Does ChatGPT make up the prices?

Not with Grommetbook. ChatGPT asks your Price Book for the price, which is worked out from your own Materials, Rates, markups and minimums, and price_product shows each step.

Which ChatGPT plans can connect Grommetbook?

Developer-mode connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan, and OpenAI changes this over time. If you don't see Developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced, check OpenAI's help pages for your plan.

Does ChatGPT send the Quote to my customer?

Grommetbook does not send email. send_quote gives you an approval link to send yourself; your customer approves online.
